Edutainment

ed·u·tain·ment (ĕj'ū-tān'mənt, ĕj'ə-) n. The act of learning through a medium that both educates and entertains.

For us, edutainment is a word to describe painless education using object lessons, illusions, etc. We do not just add these to our educational program between lectures, but actually use them to illustrate various angles on the theme. For instance: In our elementary assembly entitled "Choices" we use a Rat Trap to illustrate how many "pushers" and friends who use drugs, alcohol, etc. themselves will say, "Hey, I use it and it never hurts me!" The first few times the student trips the trap, it doesn't spring. After a false sense of confidence has set in, the pencil used to trip the trap, is shattered. A rat trap, mouse trap, or even an unsharpened yellow pencil can bring this illustration back to a students mind no matter where they are for a long time to come. By using everyday objects, it leaves reminders of subjects everywhere and the edutainment goes on...

Total Recall

Students across the  country say they can never forget Victor's Straight Jacket escape and it's point. Young people and adults alike remember for years the magical picture that appears from nowhere in Linda's chalk work.

Flexibility

A strong point of Out of the Box is flexibility. By tailoring a program to age group, time allowed, themes, group size and group specialty (sports camp, DARE program, etc.) we can add to the quality your school offers without trampling on schedules, in place programs, and budgets. We realize that schools are not alike and offer more than a "One size fits all" assembly.
